Persuasive Writing-Why we should have pets

This Term we have been learning about persuasive writing. Here is my piece of work about why it is a good idea to have pets. 😁

Title A Short Statement about the topic. eg. ‘Rugby League Is A Great Sport’	Pets Are In The Family
Overview/ Statement of position A brief statement of your view about the topic.  What you believe or want to argue.	I think it is a good idea to have pets in the family.
Series of Arguments Reasons Your points supporting your view about the topic.  Your arguments to support your statement and information to support these arguments. Remember -argument -supporting detail, reasons, examples	Firstly, pets ( especially dogs ) can sniff cancer so you will know when you have cancer. If you think you’ve got cancer you can get a dog to sniff you and then you will know. Dogs have very sensitive noses which is great for sniffing out certain diseases.
	Secondly, when you are feeling down pets will cheer you up. People who suffer from depression often find that pets can cheer them up and make them happy. Some hospitals and rest homes let pets come to visit because pets are important to people when they are unwell.
	Thirdly, pets can be trained to do lots of different things.   Pets can be trained to do specific jobs like a police dog to track down criminals or sniffer dogs who work at the airports to sniff out drugs and other bad things. Dogs can be trained to bring in the morning paper and also to piddle in one place on your lawn so your whole lawn doesn’t get  wrecked.
	Finally, pets are good for exercise. Pets like exercise heaps so it is good to get out of your house and go play with your pets. Pets are VERY fun to play with. So kids get out of your home and go play with your pets ( that includes adults to ).
Concluding statement Summing it up.  A summary of your arguments and your view on the topic.	It is a good idea to have pets because they are comforting, they can be trained to do jobs, they are good for people with diseases and they are good to get you off your butt. I think it is a great idea to have pets.
